Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals through Blyth are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when picking up your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance provisions, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle with Blyth requires:

• To rent a vehicle from Blyth, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You must also provide valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Other specific requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.

Booking and Payment Process

• Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment systems.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document its state. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. You are required to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may lead to extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if a delay is expected. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental, along with an administration fee.

Insurance and Liability Coverage

• All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find complete coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these is advisable. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the specified insurance excess, unless additional coverage is secured. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance policies.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle

• The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-road driving, or engaging in other risky behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is banned. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, without exceeding passenger or weight limits. Driving outside of the specified geographical area requires prior approval.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.

8. Liability Restrictions

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Blyth Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.

10. Updates to Terms

Blyth reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
