Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or upon vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Requirements with Blyth
- To hire a vehicle from Blyth, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence relevant to the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are also necessary. Please review the Rental Agreement for any other specific requirements.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be required. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure processing through trusted payment partners.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be finalized and signed at this stage. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage identified will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as when picked up; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns can result in additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic penalties, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance Coverage and Responsibilities
- All rentals at Blyth include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage information, including excess amounts, is outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial liability, and we suggest reviewing them thoroughly. You will be accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless covered by supplementary insurance. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains with you, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous driving behavior. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding weight or passenger limits, and traveling outside designated geographical areas without permission are also violations of our terms.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Blyth Car Hire is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not surpass the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services signifies acceptance of the revised Terms.
